Both PAWS & K’S PATH currently accept donations online through paypal which needs registration. If I collect enough people’s comments who request an online Knet payment gateway then I can approach both to invest in one, since it would make it easier for people to donate.
My questions are:
1- Do you currently donate through PayPal?
2- If both Paypal and Knet are available, would you prefer Paypal or KNet for donating online to K’S PATH or PAWS?
3- If Knet donation becomes available would you pay more often?
Please comment below the post to each question! thank you!

1) I don't actually use paypal.. 2) I prefer Knet for donating online.. 3) Yes I would… :)
of course ! I mean I know the answers, just want to show how much it would make a difference. Thank you Mayamee! :)
1. I don't use paypal- too much hassle for some reason. 2. Knet. 3. YES
Thanks Areej! Exactly my point, too much work. Do you have any idea what are the requirements for a merchant account since you are in the business? Margaret McLuskey (2 comments up) is saying it is difficult for a charity to open a merchant account, but I know Bay al Zakat has a merchant account and they accept online donations, because I used to work at a web development company when we did it for them. http://www.zakathouse.org.kw
Before doing polls like this you should find out why KNET is not being used. The reason is because it is very difficult for any charity to get a local bank account under its charity name.
Thanks Margaret McLuskey. I still think a reason like opening a Merchant account shouldn't stand in the way of developing something that could dramatically increase the donation rate. If there is a will there must be a way. Merchant accounts need a registered business at the Chamber of Commerce. As far as I know Animal Care is a registered business and has probably the same owner as K'S PATH? So they can use Animal Care's merchant account to accept donations there. anyways if you notice K'S PATH uses the account of Ayeshah & John, which means anyways donations are not going to an account opened in the name of K'S PATH. So it wouldn't hurt to have another merchant account..
And even if the shelter does not have any way to create a merchant account, a commercial company can be established that trades with animals goods? (say like petzone) just for the sake of being able to create a merchant account. I will ask Areej she is in the business and should know more about it. 2 comments down :). Thanks Margaret for your feedback. Didn't see your answer though :).
I would be more inclined to donate if you had knet- just makes it easier to manage
Narine, What Margaret says is true. However, you can open a Knet account under a personal account. Its what I do for Beauy Bar.
Ok time to visit the bank and ask. Do you need a license for an operating business or can you just open a K-Net account for even yourself?
1. I think that Paypal and Knet should be available, for people, organazation or people that want to sponsor certain animal or rescue it and take it to his/her country, Paypal is one o of the cheapest way to pay internationaly.
2. personally Knet
3. yes, but i still believe that the donations box also should be considered coz there is alot of people that do not use knet, like under 18, some single or not working people, expats that doesn’t have bank acounts and they would like to donate 2 kd, 1 kd, 500 fills or what ever they have when they meet the donations boxes.
Wish there was a ‘Like’ button Carlita. +1
1. I don’t use paypal
2. K-net
3. Deffinately
I had difficulty donating even with Paypal because I had to use USD dollars… it was a nightmare! If someonee at PAWS or KS PATH could register it under their name it would be a lot easier.
Weve adressed this problem last summer but unfortunately nothing happened. Alot of people cant donate by paypal because u have to set up an account and u have to have a credit card and pay in US dollars. I think it would be much better and easier if K-net was accepted especially because most of the youth who are willing donate are under 21 and cant have a credit card. We had a whole campaign last year and we set up a booth in 360 mall and it was a big disadvantage that we ddnt accept K-net otherwise we would have had a laptop right there in the booth for people to donate online on the spot.
